World Geography day celebrate at F G Naik college, Koperkhairane
F G Naik College, Koperkhairane celebrate World Geography day with model presentation recently. R J College Ghatkopar Geography professor Dr Kamalini Bandekar was chief guest on this occasion. College Principal Pratap Mahadik and Chief guest inaugurated the event.
In the program the information gathered after extensive research, was presented in the form of handmade models, explaining the food and climate; and charts explaining the location, weather, crops and main attractions of the state.
Professor Dr Kamalini Bandekar informed students “Studying geography develops non-fiction reading skills. Geography uses complex visual representations such as maps, pictures, charts, and graphs that must be interpreted depending on the purpose. Students of geography must use higher order thinking skills to analyze and synthesize information.”
Also given information about GPS and GIS during the event . GPS technology has demonstrated stellar performance ever since its inception. The uses and applications have grown at an incredibly rapid rate. A geographic information system (GIS) is a technological tool for comprehending geography and making intelligent decisions.
Principal Mahadik said,”understanding geography helps us make sense of current and historical events, whether of economic, political, or social importance. We become better critical thinkers knowing this information. Geography pervades just about every aspect of our lives!”
During the event Prof Kavita Pawar, Prof Dattaatry Ghodke, Prof Seema Shinde and numbers of students are present.
