Taloja Industries Association (T.I.A) meets Panvel City Municipal Corporation (PCMC) Commissioner Dr Deshmukh


Taloja Industries Association (T.I.A), Delegation under the leadership of Satish Shetty (Anna), President, meets Panvel  City Municipal Corporation (PCMC) Commissioner Dr Ganesh Deshmukh on January 10. Agenda of the meeting was to discuss on various issues, plaguing Taloja MIDC, which are related to PCMC.
Such discussed - 1) Property tax As we are aware, on strong representation by TIA and other Associations, MIDC had to roll back increased service charges and compulsory FSI utilization. On the same lines Satish Shetty (Anna), President - TIA stated that excessive Property tax should not be levied on the Industries in Taloja MIDC.
Shetty remarked that as area mapping in Taloja MIDC was in progress, Industries feared that property taxes may be increased drastically. The Commissioner understood the issue of increased property tax. He assured that the property tax rates will be levied based on sustainability of Industries. He went to add that only if the Industries survive, will the Municipality function smoothly. In addition, the Commissioner stated that increase in property tax rate will only be after due consultation with Association representatives.
LBT Issue of paying LBT was discussed. Satish Shetty (Anna) stated that issue of LBT was lingering for long and scrutiny of LBT papers were being performed in Taloja MIDC. Hence, Shetty proposed that it would be good if PMC comes out with an Amnesty plan, Industries can get relief, alongside, PCMC will get commensurate revenue. Accordingly, the Commissioner agreed to implement an Amnesty plan.
Garbage pick-up the Commissioner was appraised about non-clearing of garbage, in various areas of Taloja MIDC, by Bineet Salian. He was also updated about charges, which few Garbage pickup vans, are imposing on Industries. The Commissioner acknowledged the problem and asserted that no payment must be made to any garbage collection van. He also assured of a seamless solution to the garbage collection issue.
Reusable plastic containers (used by Hotel Industries in Taloja MIDC)- The Commissioner was appraised that Hoteliers do not have a remedy or alternative to use reusable plastic containers, which are used to provide liquid edible products. Hence the hoteliers asked permission to use food grade quality reusable plastic. These thick reusable plastic containers are purchased back by the Hoteliers. The Commissioner said he would work out an alternate strategy to find a solution. In the interim, the Commissioner gave a verbal approval to use food grade quality reusable plastic containers.
During the meet TIAs Bineet Salian –Treasurer, Bidur Bhattacharjee – Secretary General, Sunil Padhihari - Executive Secretary are present.
