Lohri and Sankranti celebrates in Navi Mumbai city
Today festivals have been reduced to marketing calendars dotted with ‘Sale’ seasons and ‘Big Discount Days’. While we do think that we know of more local and regional festivals today than ever before, the rituals and procedures that made up the festive moods have to be instilled in children.
Indian culture is an amalgamation of several cultures and promotes Unity in Diversity. Cultural functions in any society have always got people together for celebrating various functions.
Reliving our childhood is a passion and Nothing is more pleasant than the memories of childhood. To add to the fascinating nostalgia, Palm Beach Residency (Wadhwa), Nerul had organised a fun filled cultural event. Their Lohri celebrations had Punjabi dholes that added to the native feel.
Lohri is The harvest festival filled with merry-making denotes the last of the coldest days of winter. Lohri coincides with the festivals of Uttarayan, Pongal, Bhogali Bihu, Bhogi and Sankranti.
Welcoming the spring with its bountiful gifts and being thankful for all of nature’s blessings, Palm Beach Residency residents came together to observe the spark of life.
The atmosphere was electrifying and everyone was cheerful & celebrating by lighting the traditional bonfire, thus spreading the war11101-mth, love & togetherness.
Uma Ahuja, Social worker & Managing Committee member of Amey CHS Ltd (PBR) mentioned that “Joy is in sharing & caring. We believe in sharing and distributing food & chocolates to over 100+ underprivileged & specially abled children after each event. Coming together is a beginning, keeping together is progress and working together is success’, the true spirit of PBR is being seen when so many of us came together to unitedly celebrate the harvest festival.’’
Dhiraj Ahuja said ‘’Giving is not just about making a donation. It is about making a difference. Therefore, celebrating with people from different walks of life, educating children on Indian varied + diversified cultures & trying to help the under privileged is the main objective of holding cultural functions.
The puja was performed by Sunil Sutar - Chairman, Bhavna Agarwal, Saket Singhal, Shalini Vidhani, Satyababu Naidu, Priyanka Singh, Avneet Bhatia, Anju Sohrot, Rajni Thakur, Manish Walia, Sonia Walia, Ravi Bhatia and other residents of the society.
